Cookie Usage Policy
In compliance with the obligations set forth in section two of Article 22 of Law 34/2002, of July 11, on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI), as amended by Royal Decree-Law 13/2012, of March 30, the following is indicated:
Definition and Function of Cookies
The LSSI applies to any type of file or device downloaded to a user’s terminal with the purpose of storing data that can be updated and retrieved by the entity responsible for its installation.
A cookie is one such device, and therefore, these devices will hereafter be generically referred to as cookies.
These files allow the storage of data on the user's terminal, ranging from a few kilobytes to several megabytes. Below is a classification of cookies based on various categories. However, it is important to note that the same cookie may fall into more than one category.
Types of Cookies Used
Cookies Based on the Entity Managing Them
Depending on the entity managing the equipment or domain from which the cookies are sent and processing the data obtained, cookies can be classified as:
- First-Party Cookies: Sent to the user’s terminal from equipment or a domain managed by the editor and used to provide the service requested by the user.
- Third-Party Cookies: Sent to the user’s terminal from equipment or a domain not managed by the editor but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies. If cookies are installed from equipment or a domain managed by the editor but the information collected is managed by a third party, these cannot be considered first-party cookies.
On this website, third-party cookies are used, provided by:- Google Inc. (Google Analytics)
- The Rocket Science Group (Mailchimp)
- WordPress.org (Content management system)
- Swiftideas.com (Website design theme)
Cookies Based on Activation Time
Depending on how long they remain activated on the user’s terminal, cookies can be classified as:
- Session Cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a webpage. Typically used to store information for a single session (e.g., a list of purchased products).
- Persistent Cookies: Data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a defined period by the cookie’s owner, ranging from a few minutes to several years.
Cookies Based on Purpose
Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed, cookies can be classified as:
- Technical Cookies: Enable users to navigate a website, platform, or application and use various options or services (e.g., controlling traffic and data communication, identifying sessions, accessing restricted areas, remembering items in a cart, processing purchases, signing up for events, etc.).
- Personalization Cookies: Allow users to access services with predefined general characteristics based on criteria in their terminal (e.g., language, browser type, regional settings).
- Analytical Cookies: Allow monitoring and analyzing user behavior on websites linked to them. This information is used to measure website activity, create user browsing profiles, and introduce improvements based on data analysis. Analytical cookies typically involve minimal privacy risk when they are first-party cookies, process aggregated data for statistical purposes, and offer users the option to opt-out.
- Advertising Cookies: Allow efficient management of advertising spaces included on a webpage based on content or the frequency of ad displays.
- Behavioral Advertising Cookies: Store user behavior data obtained through continuous observation of their browsing habits, enabling the creation of specific profiles for targeted advertising.
How to Disable Cookies
If you do not wish to store cookies in your browser or want to receive notifications each time a cookie is installed, you can configure your browser accordingly. Most browsers allow you to manage cookies in three different ways:
- Reject cookies altogether.
- Notify the user before installing each cookie.
- Accept all cookies.
Browsers also allow for more specific cookie management options, such as:
- Rejecting cookies from specific domains.
